Monte-Carlo, June 2022. Positive results for the tenth edition of Monte-Carlo Fashion Week, held in Monte-Carlo from 23 to 27 May. An edition dedicated to sustainability, ethics, diversity and inclusiveness.
«More than 30 brands from 15 different countries have contributed to writing a new chapter in the growth of Monte-Carlo Fashion Week. Under the artistic direction of Manuel Perrotta, 20 fashion shows of international, sustainable and emerging brands were held, including Ramzen, designed by Saudi stylist Abdul Al-Romaizan with a collection homage to the Principality of Monaco, the French Thalie Paris and July of St . Barth, the American Sora Byrd, the Monegasque brand Beach & Cashmere Monaco by Federica Nardoni Spinetta, the Japanese Mitori Paris, the Monegasque brands Crisoni, Stardust Monte-Carlo and Isabel Fargnoli, the Australian Audrey Vallens, the Italians Gigi Carzaghi and Daniele Giovani Design, the South American brands of Presente Ancestral, Ana Carolina Valencia, Xzae, Chanklas Atelier, Ani Alvarez Calderon, the Swiss Flavia Fleming, the Brazilian artist Marcos Marin x the Portuguese Diana Mara, the genderless creations of Alter by Pauline Ducruet, Arloe’s conscious luxury swimwear, the eco couture collections by Malaysian Gina Frias and the Italian Dea Madre. To close the catwalks, the Gulf Capsule Collection by Gulf Oil International was unveiled, with a casual chic collection inspired by motorsport.
The scenographic Salle Garnier of the Monte-Carlo Opera was the setting for the highly anticipated Fashion Awards Ceremony, presented by the Italian-Greek actress Sofia Valleri flanked by Maurizio di Maggio of Radio Monte Carlo which took place in the presence of S.A.S. Princess Charlène of Monaco accompanied by S.A.S. Princess Gabriella, making her debut in an official event.
The talent of the young Saudi designer Abdul Al-Romaizan was awarded with the Emerging Designer Award which was personally presented to him by S.A.S. Princess Charlène of Monaco. These are the other awards assigned to fashion personalities and designers: the Positive Change Award to Edward Enninful OBE; the Photography Award to Kristian Schmidt whose photographic lens combines the dialogue between fashion and wild nature in iconic shots; the Educational Award to Polimoda; the Made in Monaco Award to Andreas Allenbach, CEO of the Monegasque brand Crisoni. Once again it was sustainability that was at the center of Monte-Carlo Fashion Week with the awarding of the creatives who participated in the Sustainable Contest 2022 and were able to stand out for their ethical and innovative vision. The winners of the Sustainable Contest 2022 were chosen by a jury led by Sara Sozzani Maino flanked by Federica Nardoni Spinetta, Terrence Bray and Matteo Ward.
The Sustainable Award – Innovative Start up went to Verabuccia, founded by Francesca Nori and Fabrizio Moiani, thanks to the conception and creation of Ananasse, a new material produced from the waste of pineapple peel; the Sustainable Award – Circular Economy Pioneer in Regenesi, founded by Maria Silvia Pazzi and Alfredo Montanari.
Focus on sustainability and the Circular Economy also for the interactive conferences organized in partnership with the Government and the Municipality of Monaco at the Club des Résidents Etrangers of Monaco (CREM) and introduced by Federica Nardoni Spinetta, with the interventions of: Annabelle Jaeger-Seydoux (Director of the Energy Transition of Monaco); Matteo Ward (Wrad Living); Claudio Betti (Camera Buyer Italy); Alexis Giannotti (Giannotti Monaco); Inès Bensalah (Inessa Creations); Francesca Nori and Fabrizio Moiani (Verabuccia); Maria Silvia Pazzi and Alfredo Montanari (Regenesi).
Many celebrities and guests present at the various events of the fashion week, including Kelly Piquet, Lara Leito, Victoria Silvstedt, Eugenia Kuzmina, Eleonora Pedron, Eugenie Trochu, Sara Sozzani Maino, Matteo Ward, Terrence Bray, Marcos Marin, the opera singers Stefano Secco and Sarah Punga, pianist Stella Almondo, and violinist Zhang Zhang.
A very positive result for a week full of fashion moments, starting with fashion shows and presentations of the new resort, cruise, capsule and pre-collections SS2023 collections, as well as retail events and glamorous evenings in the splendid setting of the Principality of Monaco.
